How We Design and Build Our Acrylic Display Cases
Artifacts, art, and collectibles help memories and history live on. Each one holds a story. Here at Showcase Acrylics, we understand how important it is to reserve such precious stories and memories. We also understand how to balance both function and beauty to give our customers the best quality display cases. There′s no doubt that the items of our lives are important — from the trophy you led your team to win in college, to your first autographed guitar, to the one-of-a kind collectible you secured after a hard-fought auction. These are, after all, the items that comprise the fabric of your life. And if you are in the business of displaying items for the public, you need to have the item be the star of the show.
When customers come to us for a design plan, they inevitably have lots of questions about how their acrylic display case will be designed and built. If you′re going to trust a company with important, valuable, and sometimes delicate material goods, we believe you should know what you′re getting ahead of time and have a very hands-on say in the design. To give you some insight into how we ensure your complete satisfaction, we created this step-by-step guide to what you can expect from the Showcase Acrylics design-and-build phase process.
-
Step 1: Discuss it
The first step is incredibly simple but so vital to guaranteeing your satisfaction. It all starts with a conversation with the customer. After they submit a request for a quote online or over the phone, one of our experienced representatives and/or designers will reach out (by phone call or email) with them to determine their goals and needs for their acrylic display case. We ask them questions like, What will the display case hold?, How big is/are the item(s)?, and Where will the display case be placed?
We try to strike a balance between the style and look the customer wants. Occasionally the company already has a design in mind. Showcase Acrylics is here to turn the stylistic design and idea into a beautiful, yet functional acrylic display case. After 25 years of experience, we have perfected our expertise in turning complicated and infeasible designs into functional and beautiful display cases. In doing this, we′ll typically ask about the following:
- The Environment the acrylic display case will encounter. For example, we would like to know if the acrylic display case will be in direct contact with UV rays and how protected will the case be from civilians or observers touching it.
- Size of the object(s) the display case will hold.
- How much protection the object(s) need?
- What level of scratch resistance does the case need?
- Will the display case be stationary, or does it need to move around from location to location?
- What is the budget?
- What color and texture is desired for the acrylic?
- Will a pedestal be needed?
-
Step 2: Design it
After the order is placed and we identify the customer′s design goals, needs, and vision, our design team draws up a custom, to-scale rendering. We then send this back to the customer for final approval and make any necessary adjustments.
-
Step 3: Build it
Once the customer approves their design, our expert craftsman will begin
creating the acrylic box. The process and speed differ on the type of acrylic and the base design that was selected. For example, Extruded Acrylic will take 2-3 hours for the seams to cure, while Cast Acrylic will take 4 days. Every single case is custom made by hand, which is one big way we ensure our customers′ satisfaction. We do not employ mass production in bringing our designs to life.
-
Step 4: Install it
After the order is built, finished, checked for quality, and packed carefully, it′s ready for delivery! We can even install your new acrylic piece anywhere in the country with our white glove delivery and installation service.
